Praise & Worship Artist Don Moen has been involved with the Christian music industry for a long time having worked for over 20 years with Integrity Media, including working as a producer on 11 volumes of the popular Hosanna! Music worship series.

Moen has one goal with his life and music: that is to lead people from around the world into the presence of God and His Kingdom through praise & worship. Moen’s latest release, Uncharted Territory, should be able to help him achieve that goal with its collection of 13 original worshipful songs dealing with God's never ending grace and love for us and that with God's help we can overcome all of life’s storms.

The releases title track, "Uncharted Territory," sets the album's mood with its melodic mid-tempo style that's driven mostly by a piano part along with some soft guitar and drum work that lets the vocals take center stage. The message of the song is about learning to lean on and trust God in those hard times in your life when it seems like your whole world is falling apart. And the need to be willing to praise Him even in those tough times knowing that He hasn't left or forsaken you and that He'll pull you through them.

Other tracks that grabbed my attention included, "Somebody's Praying for Me." This is another mid-tempo track that deals with the power of prayer, this time though by others on our behalf. I can really relate to this song because when I was growing up my parents divorced when I was a teenager and I went through a rough patch in my life that I'm not proud of when I rebelled and turned to drinking to ease my pain. During that time when I would go out drinking I would come home late at night and my mom would be setting there in the living room chair praying for my safe return. Looking back it really saddens me what I put her through but I can personally attest to the power of intercessory prayer because I truly believe that if it wasn't for her staying up half the night praying for my safety my life could have taken a very different path.

"Great Things," is an up-tempo track that has a country & western meets praise & worship sound thanks to its lively fiddle (violin) part along with vocals that sing out praises to God.

"No Fear," deals with having a strong faith and knowing that no matter what happens God is in control. The song ends with The 23rd Psalm being recited.

"He Loves You," is a song that offers up a nice simple arrangement where the message says it all, that no matter what we've done in the past or do in the future, God's love for us will remain the same.

The last track that I want to talk about is, “Thank You Jesus." The song starts off with a soulful bass line that flows into what I would describe stylistically as, 'soulful rock praise,’ with its swirling organ notes and soulful vocals. Lyrically the song deals with thanking Jesus for coming into the person's life when all hope was lost with nowhere left to turn and all their dreams had gone away and giving it a fresh start with a hopeful outlook.

I think that Don Moen's, Uncharted Territory, has a lot to offer the listener, especially if you're going through a rough time in life and these days that's probably a lot of us.

Uncharted Territory has an official release date of March 27, 2012 but it's available for purchase now on Moens website, http://www.donmoen.com.
